Brown Bags & Workshops



MCSC offers monthly workshops that are open to the public commonly known as Brown Bag workshops. In addition to providing a networking platform, Brown Bags are designed to increase your understanding of important and current business topics and trends. Brown Bags are typically held every third Friday of each month from 12 pm to 1 pm at MCSC headquarters in SLO. Registration is highly encouraged for these events, however, drop-ins are also welcomed. 


MCSC also offers stand-alone or series workshops in partnership with other organizations. These workshops are typically 2 hours or more, are designed to be more interactive, and may have a small fee. MCSC partners with many resource providers locally and in neighboring communities. The topics of these workshops also vary depending on what is trending and current within the business community.

Learn more about loan qualifications, managing credit, and local funding options from leading lenders including a representative from the SBA District Office, Pacific Premier Bank and California Coastal Rural Development Corp (Cal Coastal).

SBA’s Kay Mardon will go over the various Small Business Administration (SBA) loan guarantee programs and what banks look for when lending money
Hear from Pacific Premier Bank about local bank loan programs for business and how they can assist you in your growth
Learn more on services to utilize from the Cal Coastal SBDC and the Women’s Business Center that will help your business start, grow, and thrive

During this workshop we will be exploring beyond the elements Canva provides, including color palettes, shading, creating photos, manipulating shapes and objects, etc. This class is for intermediate users so please bring your laptops and devices! Bonus! We will also be exploring what Canva Plus has to offer, including brand palette, files, animation, transparency, resizing, etc.
