Visioning, Discipline and Willpower. Do you ever find yourself procrastinating?  Or do you find it hard to get motivated? Do you hit snooze a few too many times and wish you could get up earlier?  Or you have trouble going to bed early and feel tired all the time?  Are there goals and dreams you have that you want to make happen but you can't get motivated or stay motivated to achieve them?

 

During this session you'll learn how highly successful people use discipline and willpower to achieve their visions and goals.  The good news for the rest of us that we can get better (or learn how to be) disciplined and have more willpower.  You will learn how having a clear and compelling vision makes it easier to have discipline and taking better care of yourself improves willpower. This is an interactive session, so come ready to revisit your dreams and how you can have more discipline to achieve them and be more successful this year.

Polly will also discuss the importance (and fun!) of creating "vision boards." Wednesday, April 20th, 2016- Vandenberg Small Business Outreach Event

"Calling All Small Business."

 

On April 20, the Vandenberg Office of Small Business Programs and the Santa Maria Economic Development Commission will be holding a small business outreach event for local businesses.

 

Base representatives and prime contractors will be available to answer questions, and Vandenberg leaders and small business experts will hold a 90 minute informational program from 12:30 - 2:00.

 

This event will run from 12:00 - 4:00 at the Santa Maria Fair Park. Admission is free, but you must register.

Thursday, April 21st, 2016- Help Customers Find You!

"Put Your Business on the Map with Google & Yelp."

 

Multiple local SLO County service providers have come together to host a fantastic free hands-on workshop in Arroyo Grande, open to the whole small business community!

 

You'll first hear an intro to the numerous non-profit agencies that provide consulting services to local small businesses.

 

Next, we will jump into Google's Put Your Business on the Map mini workshop, followed by an info session on Yelp for businesses.

 

The last hour of the session will be dedicated to putting this all into practice, and consultants will assist attendees in updating their Google and Yelp profiles.

 

Please bring a laptop, if you're able to stay for the hands-on implementation portion of the workshop.

 

Lunch is provided and the whole event is FREE! But you must claim your spot by registering.

Successful businesses plan for their growth. How do you know when the time is right to look into growing your team?

 

Stacy will give a presentation on the benefits of "On-the-Job-Training." OJT can be a great option for small businesses that need to hire, but have a limited budget. OJT programs can help small businesses and those just starting out, by reimbursing them for up to 50% of the wages for a qualified employee. Stacy will also cover some of the important elements of building your team, such as writing a job description and determining what type of employee (part-time, independent contractor, etc.) to hire.

Nancy educated us on the various components of Crowfunding including what is it, how it works, elements of success, businesses that work well on crowdfunding and most importantly, how to assess your “crowd” before you decide to launch a Crowdfunding campaign to raise money.

 

Nancy Hayes is cofounder of MoolaHoop, which is a crowdfunding site to help women with small businesses raise funds to grow their business.  Prior to founding MoolaHoop, Nancy was Dean of the College of Business and CFO of San Francisco State University.
